The new Global Internal Audit Standards (‘the Standards’) are a useful repositioning and refresh of the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF). However, there is one notable new requirement for government audit leaders – Standard 9.2 Internal Audit Strategy. The new Standard requires the chief audit executive (CAE) develop and implement a strategy for the internal audit function – purpose strategic objectives and supporting change initiatives. This has made it clear – Internal Audit Strategy matters.
Internal Audit Strategy formation begins with the why (purpose), is followed by the what (strategy), and concludes with the how (audit change). But many government auditors struggle to articulate a clear Strategy that they can promote within their organization and effectively execute the change needed to increase their impact.
This three-hour webinar explores how you not only meet the requirements of the new Global Internal Audit Standards regarding Internal Audit Strategy, but look beyond these requirements to explore how to deliver long-term sustainable success.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the relevant requirements of the new Global Internal Audit Standards on Internal Audit Strategy and performance measurement
- Determine the key steps for the successful development of a business-aligned Internal Audit Strategy through exploration of a range of real-world examples
- Identify how to develop an internal audit purpose and associated internal audit strategic outcomes
- Recognize the significance of ensuring all internal audit strategic activity is aligned to deliver on your internal audit strategy
- Review a range of approaches to measuring internal audit strategy success and how to integrate these into your operations
- Compare a range of internal audit performance scorecards, understanding how they were developed and the impact they have had
- Determine how to apply the material presented within your own government organization so you can make a start on refreshing or developing your own internal audit strategy
