Description
$275 (per person) includes an online webinar for 4 hours of CPE credit
This 4-hour live webinar provides a hands-on introduction to audit data collection and quantitative methods used in government audits, drawing on real-world examples from government audit work. The course is designed to help auditors understand when and how to use quantitative techniques to support well-documented and defensible audit conclusions.
The instructor will share an overview of relevant audit standards and what they require with respect to data analysis and sampling. Participants will explore why quantitative methods are used in government audits, the different types of data collection and analysis, and the cost–benefit considerations associated with various methodologies. Key considerations for selecting and applying quantitative techniques are reinforced through interactive exercises that guide participants in choosing the most appropriate method for different audit scenarios.
Attendees will learn when to sample versus analyze an entire population as well as the different types of sampling methods available. Through interactive exercises, attendees practice selecting sampling methods while considering factors such as data reliability and audit objectives. Participants receive guidance on documenting sampling and analysis, evaluating the quality of quantitative audit evidence, and effectively reporting audit results. At the end of this webinar, participants will be better equipped to apply quantitative methods that strengthen audit findings and support high-quality, credible audit reports.
